How is the research used?

Research findings have been published in prominent academic journals such as the Bulletin of the World Health Organization and Health Systems & Reform, and covered in the media such as in the Globe & Mail. Findings have been used to inform global development discussions among academics, policymakers and development experts.

The Reach Alliance conducted one of the first external evaluations of UNHCR’s work to provide financial assistance to Syrian refugees in Jordan. Their independent analysis provided valuable insights into the strengths, limitations and opportunities of this important cash transfer program. We have used the Reach Alliance case study in technical discussions with donors. It has also opened doors for us to engage in policy dialogue and present the results of our Jordan program at global forums.

Each case study digs into what’s working and why in a specific context. They take into account the political, cultural and social contexts in each country and provide an in-depth look at the barriers, costs and solutions to reaching the hardest to reach through innovative program delivery.

The 17 case studies published to date cover four thematic areas:

  • Financial inclusion

  • Technology

  • Infrustructure

  • Health

Through its unique student-led research model, the Reach Alliance will  accelerate global efforts to ensure that no one is left behind.
